On the last day of 1999, Stormcenter joined Castlenet-irc. Castlenet, based in Australia, a mostly a gamer network - though it didn't start out that way. While Castlenet is no more, the servers that continued on as Dwarfstar.net remain a solid, if small, group. We all hope you enjoy your stay.

The rules on Stormcenter are simple:

Rule #1: Trying to flame the server will get you K-Lined. At the very least. It is one of the few annoying, antisocial, behaviors (DNS spoofing is another) that will result in you being permanently unwelcome here. Don't do it. Real abuse will earn a call to your ISP's Policy department.

Rule #2: The staff isn't responsible for things you find personally offensive. Unless someone is violating the rules, we expect you to be grown up enough to deal with it on your own.

Rule #3: No Trolling, HNG's, Kiddie Porn, credit card trading, warbots, floodbots, botnets, or anything else that the oft precocious OPs find annoying. This include trojaned clients, active trojans, or anything that looks or acts like one. We reserve the right to be as flighty as we want to. We built it. We paid for it. We earned the right.

Rule #4: Running in and asking "Hi, can I have an O-line?" will usually get the response of "Oh, I'm sorry. My finger slipped from O to K by mistake, silly me." In other words: No, you can't. If we need another Op, and think you deserve an O-Line, we'll ask you if you want one.

Rule #5: Bots ARE welcome here, (with the exceptions noted above) though will probably be killed if they misbehave. If you want to leave a bot connected till the end of time, ask us first. Multiple clones are NOT welcome (bnc, and shell users, excepted but please contact us first), nor are bots run from compromised boxes. (No Sub7Server, etc., bots. Period.) In general, if it looks like it may be a floodnet forming, you can count on our dealing with it.

Finally, IRC is a privilege, not a right. We want you to have as much fun with it as everyone else, 'cause if it's not fun, why do it? But we're also the ones putting the work into keeping the hardware running and paying for the machines, the bandwidth, and everything else. We're volunteers here, and you're a guest in our home. We expect you to follow the rules (and there aren't many of them!). If you can't deal with them, you're welcome to set up your own server and run it how you see fit. 'Nuf said.
